Canada Post Letter Carrier Collective Agreement

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW; In French: Union of Postal Workers) is a public sector union that represents postal workers, including postmen. Postal officials, postal operators and distributors, technicians, mechanics and electricians employed by Canada Post, as well as private sector employees outside Of Canada Post. Today, with more than 50,000 members, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has been called an activist because of some of the actions since its inception in 1965. guarantee the rights of all postal workers. The post office is an incredibly resilient institution, but together we must regain the trust of our customers. We still have a long way to go to improve our relationship with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, to create a strong postal service for the future.

Finally, and most importantly, we have an obligation to act with the utmost interest of our employees in our hearts and to ensure that it guides our decisions. In addition to these great successes, we continued to face challenges, while adapting our business to structures built for mail distribution. We need to increase our network capacity and improve our IT systems to provide customer service that is competitive with other parcel delivery drivers. We need to redesign our systems for measuring rural and urban routes so that they are more accurate and support balanced workloads. And the most important thing is that we need to identify and address important safety issues to reduce our injury rates. The first major CUPW strike was an illegal strike of feral cats in 1965 (before public sector employees had the right to strike or even create unions) and was the largest illegal strike involving government employees. The action has earned the right to collective bargaining for all public sector employees. A strike in 1968 and a campaign of resignations in 1970, which led to above-average wage increases, were also strike actions. Other strikes in 1974 and 1975 helped to gain job security in light of new postal technologies. A 1978 strike led CUPW President Jean-Claude Parrot to be jailed when the union opposed laws passed by the Canadian Parliament.
